When our President/CEO joined WEDU PBS in June 2019, he came with a penchant for local programming. From that affinity came the Greater series, a hyperlocal digital-first series of short-form documentaries, featuring purveyors of arts & culture in some of our local Tampa Bay-area towns.
The first series is Greater Sarasota; three seasons so far have featured everything from the Sarasota Opera to the world-famous circus and more. Shortly after that premiered, WEDU introduced Greater Ybor City, which in one season so far explores everything from the infamous Ybor City chickens, to the quintessential hand-rolled cigars and surrounding communities that brought vibrant life to the city many decades ago, to the mouth-watering multi-cultural Cuban sandwiches, with other historic stories all interwoven. The third series, Greater St. Petersburg, explores urban farming, the complicated histories of St. Petersburg, arts and sports and more.
I created the logos, branding, promotions, and more for all three original series.
As part of the promotions for the three series, I had the opportunity to design traditional film posters for each program, to be displayed at local movie theaters for events and at the WEDU PBS TV station.
